In the interest of public safety and in keeping with the latest direction from the government regarding the COVID 19 virus, IPMS Ipswich has suspended all of our meetings at the Ipswich & District Indoor Bowls Club until further notice. When we are able to safely return to our regular meetings, we will post notice both on this web site and our IPMS Ipswich Facebook page. We will continue to liaise closely with the bowls club management and monitor advice and direction from the government to determine when a good time will be to return to our normal meeting routine.
In the interim, if any of our followers who live in the Ipswich or surrounding area would like to join us, we have a very active Facebook IPMS Ipswich Group page where members are continually posting the progress on their latest builds. If you want to join, click on the link above and send us a join request. Since the implementation of COVID-19 restrictions, we have conducted virtual club meetings on our Facebook Group page on our usual meeting night. During this time, everyone posts photos of their latest builds. Those posts, as well as our virtual competition results will also appear in our web site updates. Our next virtual meeting will take place on Tuesday, 27 October at 7:30 PM.
Over the past several months several very active new members have joined our ranks. We would like to welcome Martin Reader, whose primary area of interest is small scale Star Trek models, but he seems to be branching out a bit since joining us. Geoff Woods - yet another high calibre figure painter, has also joined us. Recently, Bill Giehos has moved to our area from Greece, and already he is "wowing" us with some stunning ship dioramas. Thank you all for seeking out our club. It's great to have you all on board and adding to the diversity of our collective interests.
The results of our September 2020 virtual meeting appear below. This was our sixth virtual meeting on our Facebook Group Page. In addition to our normal monthly competition, we held an "Airliner" themed competition. Those who built an airliner found the deviation from their normal model routine a bit of a challenge, but as you can see in the photos below, they all rose to the challenge and achieved some remarkable results.
EVENTS COMING UP SOON
All "live" model shows for the forseeable future have been cancelled due to the on-going COVID-19 restictions. This includes the annual IPMS UK National Event, "Scale Model World 2020". As soon as restrictions are lifted and the show calendar starts filling up again, we will post details. Details of shows and cancelleations can also be found on the official IPMS UK Events web page.
